HOW TO MEASURE FOR A SAND PIT COVER
HOW TO MEASURE UP FOR A SAND PIT COVER
Measure for a sand pit cover – If you have purchased or planning on purchasing a sand pit, you already know there are plenty of options. Large, small, round, square, rectangle, kidney shape, oval or… literally any shape! And that is just from the range of pre-made sand pits. If you are a day care, kindergarten or early learning centre you will probably make a custom made sand pit, and it will require a custom made sandpit cover.
As part of the planning process we will ensure your sand pit cover complies with all relevant OH&S requirements. Please ask if you require assistance to measure up for a sand pit cover.
OPTIONS FOR MEASURING A SAND PIT/SAND BOX
SIMPLE SHAPES
Measuring for a square, rectangle or circular shape is easy, we require simple internal measurements of your sandpit surrounds. Commonly simple shaped sand pits will have a concrete or astro turf surround, or a border made with timber sleepers or logs.
If you are not sure if your sand pit is a simple shape or not, just send us a photo of the sand pit and we will let you know when we send the quote over.

COMPLEX SHAPES
Complex shapes are shapes that are not symmetrical, requiring the need for a more complex measuring process.
Shapes that do not contain obstructions or rounded edge can still be measured quite easily. There will be outer measurements needed, along with incremental cross measurements required, see the example below to illustrate.
DO YOU HAVE A LARGE SAND PIT THAT REQUIRES MULTIPLE COVERS?
Large sand pits that require large sand pit covers can be difficult to cover due to the size, weight, and movability of the covers. Because of this, we recommend designing a sand pit cover in multiple sections.
DOES YOUR SAND PIT HAVE OBSTRUCTIONS? TEMPLATE REQUIRED!
Depending on the shape, size and if there are obstruction like shade sail posts or children play plants, you may need a contractor to create a plastic template of the shade of the sand pit, that we we can be absolutely sure of a good fit. You simply post in your template and we make sure the covers fit perfectly for your sand pit.
