So, you’ve made a great choice and invested in a Custom Made Shade Sail. Now, with some minimal care and attention you can help extend the lifespan of your attractive and functional shade sail.
Problem:
The risks to the lifetime and good looks of your shade sail fabric stem from mould and mildew, especially in humid climates or after extended periods of wet weather; traffic grime, if you live near a busy thoroughfare; and dust.
Solution:
Clean your shade sail regularly, using mild detergent and water. Ensure the detergent contains no acidic chemicals, as this can weaken the UV-R protection. Choose a sunny day to be sure the sail dries quickly.
Use a garden hose (never a high-pressure hose) from a safe distance, working over the area in sections. There is no need to uninstall the shade sail to clean it, and we do not recommend this. You should be able to clean it adequately with the help of a ladder. You can take this opportunity to also check the tension and reduce any sagging, as this can save you from potential unnecessary wear and tear on your prized shade sail.
